About us
A magazine made for Dekalb County families.
DeKalb Kids was created to be more than just a magazine. It was created to spark curiosity, encourage imagination, and make learning fun for young readers throughout our community.
Our mission is to give families across DeKalb County a free, local publication they can enjoy together. Each issue is designed to include fun activities, educational content, local events, helpful resources, and stories that celebrate the people, places, schools, businesses, and organizations that make our community special.
This magazine is especially meaningful to me because it was inspired by my own family. My wife, Alison, and I are the proud parents of two young children, Ethan, who is 5, and Riley, who is 2. Like many parents, we are always looking for opportunities to encourage learning, creativity, and meaningful family time. Some of our favorite moments happen when we are reading together, exploring new ideas, and watching our children discover something new.
Those experiences inspired me to create a magazine that families across DeKalb County could sit down and share. In a world filled with screens and distractions, DeKalb Kids offers something children and parents can enjoy together while learning about the world around them and the community they call home.
As DeKalb Kids grows, we look forward to covering a variety of topics that inspire children to learn, explore, and dream. Our goal is to create a publication that families look forward to reading together and one that helps foster a lifelong love of learning.
